Motorola to launch Razr maxx in India

motorola razr maxxMotorola mobility is all set to launch the all new Razr Maxx in Indian on 24th June, 2012. One of the Indian ecommerce site Infibeam has listed Razr Maxx for pre order at an insane price of Rs. 31,999. Well i may be wrong calling it an insane price but its definitely true as there are many better option than Razr Maxx already available in the market in the form of Xperia S at Rs. 28,500 and Galaxy Note at Rs. 30,500 which will beat this phone in both specs and benchmarks and even in looks!

There was a time when Motorola was completely uprooted from India. Most of their flagship showrooms shutdown one by one. But after the mobile wing of Motorola was acquired by Google, conditions begins to improve mainly because of the fact that they started releasing smartphones based on Android OS in India.

Why you should not buy Nokia 808?

nokia 808Nokia yesterday has released the much hyped 41 megapixel camera phone Nokia 808. But the extremely high price tag of 808 is keeping its potential customers away from it. It is priced at Rs. 33,899 at Flipkart which is also its MRP. At this price one can choose from variety of powerful option already available in the market. Some of these options includes Sony Xperia S at Rs. 28,500, Samsung Galaxy S2 at Rs. 26,000, Samsung Galaxy Note at Rs. 30,500 and HTC One S at Rs. 32,500.

Apart from its price there are some other negative points which are responsible for its initial negative response. Some of these points are listed below:

  1. The first and foremost negative point in this smartphone is its weak processor. Nokia has already been claiming always that Symbian does not require dual cores or quad cores for it smooth operation but from the point of an end user, he/she will definitely expect at least dual core in this price range.
  2. Another negative point is its low RAM. At this price 1 GB RAM in smartphones is a common thing. Again here Nokia is claiming that Symbian does not require more than 512 MB RAM.
  3. Low screen resolution of 640 X 360 is also one of its weakest point. A phone at this should have at least HD display.
  4. Out dated Symbian OS in Nokia 808 is another negative point which is driving its potential customer away from it. No body wants to buy Symbian phone for 30K+ rupees.
  5. Also it is not a portable phone at all. The big lens at the back of phone is giving 808 awkward appearance.
  6. VGA secondary camera at a price of Rs. 34,000 is a folly.
  7. Last but not least the high price of this phone is its biggest negative point.

The only positive point in this phone is its camera. That too is not up to to the mark as compared to DSLRs. If you are going for this phone because of its camera than avoid it and instead purchase a cheap DSLR which will beat Nokia 808 from every side.

ICANN will reveal the list of applied gTLDs today

ICANN, the organization responsible for maintaining domains and extensions is set to reveal the list of gTLD which were applied during the period when ICANN was accepting the applications of new gTLD. The list will be revealed today in a press conference to be held by ICANN at London.

As per the reports there are many different types of gTLD applications which were applied by different companies. Majority of these new gTLD will be the name of the companies for example .google or .microsoft. But there are some companies who has applied for the new gTLD based on generic names for example .bank or .web or .doctor. Most of these application were filed by different companies and therefore a auction will take place to decide which company has won the licence to that particular gTLD. Afterward they can sell domain to public and end users at what ever price they want. For example .com now on average is priced at 10$ because of the competition but the licence of the gTLD will be with one company only and they can charge whatever they want.

Not everyone can apply for the gTLD. It requires a massive amount of initial funding to move the application. The initial application submission fees is 185,000$ and than the winner company has to pay 25,000$  per year in maintenance to ICANN. ICANN has received a total amount of 350 million dollar because of the application process alone!

The number of new gTLD application received is 1930.
