Nokia, the world’s largest mobile manufacturer at last decided to go with Microsoft in order to to compete with Apple iPhone and Google’s Android platforms.
Stephen Elop, the new Chief Executive at Nokia may consider this step as a strategical u-turn but investors didn’t take it positively at all. A fall of about 14% was observed in the shares of Nokia after this announcement.
Nokia known for it’s reliably, is quite popular here in India.
But the scenario is changing quite fast and basis of this changing scenario is operating systems.
Google Android, iPhone IOS, Meego , Symbian and few more are all the operating systems available presently in the global market.
Few years back Symbian is the king but now becomes quite deprecated IMHO.
Apple IOS is the new operating system developed by Apple and is quite popular among American’s.Wanna know why? The main reason for the success of IOS is application available for it on Apple’s official marketplace.Yes its true people are mad for apps and this is the sole reason why IOS become so popular with in a short span of time.
Google android following the same strategy as Apple developed Android with large app database and also become popular.
But symbian fails here. Although Nokia tried concept app market (OVI market) but that failed too because you get only one chance to prove your worth 🙂
AS FAR AS INDIA IS CONCERNED NOKIA IS STILL THE BEST MAINLY DUE TO TRUST WHICH IT GAINED FROM PAST FEW YEARS OF ITS BUSINESS HERE.
I CAN STILL REMEMBER THAT MY FIRST MOBILE IS NOKIA 3310 AND I STILL HAVE THAT.
APPLE IN INDIA IS JUST LIKE A DOT ON THE BLACKBOARD. MAINLY DUE TO OVERPRICING AND POOR SUPPORT.
Dont know why nokia is not getting their hands on android
symbian is good for most applicaton and day to day work but according to me it is not that good for touch screen phones
There are ver few sybian developers that built touch sensitive apps for symbian. On the other hand there are lot of developer for these type of apps on android or apple.
